Christo and Jeanne Claude

limited edition | graphic print of wrapping projects “The Gates” NY, USA and “Over the River” Arkansas River, USA

The artist duo Christo and Jeanne Claude realized legendary wrappings of architecturally or scenically famous places and sites around the world. The highly complex approval procedures and difficult conditions usually lasted for years. Without the couple’s perseverance and resilience, but above all Jeanne Claude’s great organizational talent, this would not have been possible. In order to be artistically independent, all projects were self-financed.

To this end, Christo created an extensive body of graphic work. Sketches and preliminary drawings, models, fabric samples. He combined these into aesthetically highly appealing project collages. These works also include the graphics in the Koenigshof Collection for “The Gates” and “Over the River” (the latter unfortunately not realized).
